The results so far for YAH!  As of November, 2004, we have eight agencies in the US, with Teen Line of LA being the oldest of the Youth America Hotline teen peer counseling hotlines.  It was founded in 1981 to help adolescents address their problems through a confidential peer hotline and community outreach program. 

Each of the agencies in the YAH! is a sanctuary for the more than 100,000 youth each year that call the hotlines.  Toll-free in the US, it's a place to talk things out with another teen in a safe, non-judgmental environment.  

Many of our agencies have community outreach programs that take panels of volunteer youth directly into schools and youth groups to talk about topics pertinent to adolescents.  More than 100,000 youth attend outreaches annually - learning about issues, and most importantly, that whatever their problem, they are not alone.  The YAH! website is www.youthline.us

YAH!  Member Agencies all have training which involves specialized education on such topics as tolerance, "growing up gay", teen suicide and substance abuse prevention.  These services are also offered to schools, adolescent-serving agencies, law enforcement, and the media.   Click HERE for information about the PEOPLE of YAH!
